The article aims to conduct a study compared of the higher education in Brazil and Argentina, drawing a current landscape of higher education in the two countries, with focus on access and stay in higher education as form of social inclusion. Will be covered aspects such as profile of higher education institutions, diversification of higher education, inequality in access to higher education, democratization of higher education. 'e analysis aims to discuss the similarities and differences between the higher education in Brazil and Argentina, in the context of Latin America, in the light of the historical, economical, political, social and educational aspects influencing the exclusion/ inclusion of students in higher education. In this study, the democratization of higher education is seen as a precondition for overcoming inequalities and to the achievement of sustainable human development with equity and social justice in the region with the highest social inequalities of planet Earth.
