This paper presents a state of the art about mathematical whys of education in articles published in the Revista do Professor de Matemática. We investigated all 70 editions (1982 to 2009) distributed on official CD. The selection and classification of the questions were based on the concepts of Sergio Lorenzato and Edson Barbosa. The survey results show that found 34 whys and answers, predominating questions of areas that teachers need more training, according to the literature, both in relation to the nature of the Whys? - Conceptual kind - as in terms of mathematical content - Arithmetic. Thus, this mapping is a useful tool for teaching qualification.
