The new media culture can be a catalyst for change in pedagogical practice and in the way it promotes the construction of knowledge. Some of these changes take time to be reflected in educational practice, particularly at the university level. Others exceed what the theory could have predicted regarding the profound changes that the current ecology of media confronts us with. In this paper, we try to present some key concepts associated with the Convergence Culture and its relationship with the new ways of learning. It deals with Distance Education and its role in the transformation of university pedagogy, towards a new culture of learning.
