Integrity, good practices and conduct in research are nowadays increasingly ingrained and part of a responsible academic attitude. In the academic locus, a doctoral research, for example, cannot do without novelty factors that ensure original research. In these terms, the present work discusses the notion of plagiarism, without neglecting elements of genesis and evolution over the last centuries and new policies of scientific prevention. Furthermore, while examining the role of the Philosophiae Doctor (PhD), it also discusses new emerging research modalities, such as, for example, the case of the (PhDP) by publication. Finally, the work supports a non-trivial understanding between emerging categories of manifestation of plagiarism, in the face of non-static academic relationships and characteristics of a doctoral research.
