ANJOS, Juarez José Tuchinski dos. Aspects of school cultures at primary schools in Brasília in the columns of Yvonne Jean (1962-1964). Rev. Diálogo Educ. [online]. 2024, vol.24, n.80, pp.318-331.  Epub 29-Abr-2024. ISSN 1981-416X.  https://doi.org/10.7213/1981-416x.24.080.ao09.

The article, of a historiographical nature, aims to investigate some aspects of the school cultures of primary schools in Brasília between the years 1962 and 1964, taking as sources the texts published by journalist Yvonne Jean in the newspaper Correio Braziliense. In methodological terms, the columns written by her throughout the 1960s were read, selecting those that made reference to school cultures in primary schools in Brasília. Based on this selection, a thematic database was formed within which, depending on the limits of this article, two aspects of school cultures are highlighted: teacher training and school clubs. With regard to teacher training, it was observed that in the first years of operation of the Brasília education system, the government of the Federal District, through its Educational Foundation and using partnerships signed by INEP with international bodies, offered their primary teachers, at least, two training opportunities: the UNESCO project number 1 course and the PABAEE courses. School clubs, in those founding moments of primary school in Brasília, constituted tactics adopted by teachers and students to achieve one of the objectives of the strategy represented by Anísio Teixeira's proposal for teaching in the capital: the socialization of students. Finally, by focusing on these aspects of school cultures in her columns, journalist Yvonne Jean helped to give visibility to her readers of the initiatives that were being taken to materialize the educational project designed for the new capital.
