This article presents theoretical and practical foundations for the recent field of educational Jiu jitsu - JJE. We started by doing a bibliographic survey in order to revive important research about the benefits of the practice of Jiu jitsu in the school environment. Subsequently, based on hermeneutics, we linked, in an innovative way, the term educational jiu jitsu with the practice and study of fighting inserted in a didactic-pedagogical proposal aligned with the guidelines contained in the BNCC regarding the full development of life. Then, we present and analyze two field researches to analyze the innovation in the teaching and learning processes brought by the JJE in a Municipal School: the first, a diagnostic analysis through the tools of observation, the conversation circle and a structured questionnaire; and the second, an analysis of testimonies. The results point to the JJE's contributions to the school organizational culture, to the families, and to the full development of students at school.
