It is taken as a premise that the career realization is fundamental for the constitution of a valued public service. One of its pillars is remuneration, a theme that constitutes the main objective of this article: to analyze the effects of the fiscal austerity policy on the remuneration of teaching professionals in the city of Curitiba/PR. In a critical dialectical perspective in the analysis of data from the Siope-FNDE, this work converges with the results of other research about the effects of austerity: the contraction of public investments is harmful to the working class.
