VASQUES, Carla  y  ULLRICH, Wladimir. CORRESPONDENCES ABOUT THE ‘OTHER’ IN SPECIAL EDUCATION. ETD - Educ. Temat. Digit. [online]. 2019, vol.21, n.2, pp.316-333.  Epub 19-Sep-2019. ISSN 1676-2592.  https://doi.org/10.20396/etd.v21i2.8653393.

The "other" as a topic in special education raises an impasse within the field of undergraduate degree (Licenciatura). Something in the crossroads with disability causes strangeness and this does not seem subsumed under inclusive guidelines. We seek to understand the perplexity - or even the impossibility - envolved in the process of becoming a teacher to such "other", when modern rationality states that the world is divided in dualisms and dichotomies. In order to make room for the strangeness that preceeds and persists in our students´class works, and diverging from such rationality, we adopted as methodological and theoretical reference Freud´s 1919 essay The Uncanny. The Freudian conversion to the literary justifies the writing of a letter as a formative experience. One letter involves the presence of the other - it is done under the supposition of a recipient. In response to the call for implication, correspondence presents itself as the possibility of a different rationality in teacher training.

Palabras clave : Special education; Teacher Education; Undergraduate (Licenciatura); Modernity; Psychoanalysis.
