The São Paulo State Department of Education (SEESP), created the São Paulo Faz Escola Program (SPFE), which was implemented in 2008 and still today (2019), it’s in force in the state school system of São Paulo. In this text we analyze some questions about this curriculum, highlighting the issue of teaching action. Our aim is to look for evidence on how this long-prescribed curriculum still persists as a guide of teaching work in schools in São Paulo and which repercussions are perceived in the performance and professional development of teachers. The analysis indicates that the São Paulo Faz Escola Program is based on a neoliberal policy quantifying teaching with external evaluations and the systematization of meritocracy that blames the lack of quality of the public school and directly affects the autonomy of teachers.
