For the last decades, method has been the central problem on how to teach children to read and write. Nowadays, as a consequence of studies and research under a psychogenetic perspective of literacy development, the use of methods to teach reading and writing has been severely criticized. However, the teleological nature of school imposes the search for methodological paradigms, which in reality do not conflict with the psychogenetic theory of literacy development, provided the concept of method of teaching reading and writing is not an stereotyped one.
