TOSTADO-CALVO, Olga y PEREZ-FRANCO, Ismael. Distribution of domestic chores during Covid-19 confinement in Extremadura (Spain). Rev. Estud. Fem. [online]. 2024, vol.32, n.1, e87148. Epub 01-Ene-2024. ISSN 1806-9584. https://doi.org/10.1590/1806-9584-2024v32n187148.
Many economic and social studies have made invisible domestic and care work, historically carried out by women. With their increasing incorporation into the labor market, men have not taken proportional reproductive work. With the arrival of Covid-19, a health, economic, and social crisis began, and the functioning of all households changed. This paper aims to compare the gender-segregated time uses of heterosexual couples with children in a Spanish region before and during confinement. It also aims to find out whether the division of tasks was proportional to the reduction in workload. Although men reduced their working day to a greater extent, they reduced their workload in almost all tasks, except for shopping at the supermarket, the only one that allowed them to go out into public space during confinement.
