Disaster risk results of a vulnerability long process of communities exposed to hydrological and/or geological phenomena. The socioeconomic context and gender and racial inequalities aggravate this condition, generating differential impacts on certain groups. Since this is a chronic scenario in Brazil, it is necessary to investigate the socio-historical construction and the condition of risk areas in cities with recurrence of events such as mass movements and floods. Therefore, this article aims to analyze the social and material vulnerability conditions of women living in areas at risk of landslides in Santos, São Paulo. Based on a quali-quantitative methodology, with statistical and cartographic methods, the discussions bring elements to understand how and why women, mainly non-white women, are more affected by the disaster.
