The year 2020 was marked by the COVID-19 pandemic, an international public health emergency that unexpectedly affected the whole world, requiring several measures to combat the virus, including the closing of establishments, which implied educational institutions. Taking this context in account, teaching and learning had to be reinvented, and the classes became remote. Through a bibliographic study, this paper aims to reflect on the implications of the exposure time to digital screens by students of Elementary School I, highlighting some harmful effects presented by research, such as: changes in sleep, stress, behavioral changes, among others. In view of this, we consider a need for educational institutions to reflect on how to conduct this remote teaching moment.
