This article presents the results of a Narrative Review undertaken from 2011 to 2021, whose purpose was to analyze the main academic productions on inpatient pedagogical care. In addition to the formulation of public policies, that support the obligation of this service in hospitals, many studies have been developed aiming to give support to the educational work performed in hospitals for ill students, unable to attend regular school. It is organized, therefore, from a discussion on how a narrative review, commonly carried out in the area of Health, (Ercole; Alcoforado, 2014), but still little used in the area of education is outlined and describes the path taken to carry it out. This type of review, of descriptive-discursive nature, is based on the presentation and discussion of topics of scientific interest, which allows the organization of knowledge produced about a specific theme. Next, the emerging themes that allow for greater delimitation and understanding of how the field is being delineated are presented. Finally, considerations are made that indicate trends and gaps in the field of inpatient pedagogical care.
