The aim is to reflect on the possible advances in Brazilian basic education, after the approval of the New FUNDEB. It is a qualitative study with quantitative data support, and bibliographic analysis. The main authors of our study are Dourado (2007), Bruno (2018), Costa (2013), and Muniz (2015). The documentary sources are Brazil (1961; 1964; 1990; 1996; 2007; 2020a; 2020b), FNDE (2020a; 2020b), Fundef (1996), FUNDEB (2007), and the New FUNDEB (2020). The main results are: permanent validity; range from early childhood education to the end of Basic Education; increase in resources complemented by the Union of teacher salary and average value per student; guarantee of the principle of equity; valuing good management practices; specific percentage for early childhood education and infrastructure.
