Contemporary education has assumed a discourse of respecting idiosyncrasies and highlighting singularities. Nevertheless, we can perceived throughout history that our affective life has been systematically neglected in favor of the cognitive aspect, in the most varied environments. In school context, this situation produces unsatisfactory results, due to split between affect and cognition. This study investigates the social representations of adolescents about affect in the teacher-student relation. The locus of research is a school of the municipality of Feira de Santana (Bahia, Brazil). Our objectives are identifying actual affections in the school context, emphasizing the teacher-student relation and the implications of it in the teaching-learning process, as well as investigating social representations of adolescents about affect. Our qualitative case-study research had as subjects 12 adolescents. We collected data through observation, interview and drawing. Further on, the whole material was submitted to discourse analysis. Results show social representations about affects that anchor themselves in: (dis)pleasure, (dis)union, desire of learning, to (in)validate the learning, (in) complete teacher.
