Education as formation of man let us experience, in the dialectic of history, the relationship between the individual and the collective. It occurs in the full freedom of man that builds up his project in a given situation. The collective, although it does not have an ontological existence, is one of the fundamental dimensions to think of education as dialectic between the individual and the collective, between subjectivity and objectivity, between the project and the situation, between totalisation and totality. The brief text presented here is part of my doctoral dissertation From Individual to Collective according to Sartre´s Critique of Dialectical Reason: Educational Perspectives. The singularity and the pedagogical practice are two sides of the same coin, educating in and for the singularity according to a pedagogical practice based on the collectivity that is in constant process of totalisation.
