FERREIRA, Alessandra Pavolin Pissolati; SILVA, Elenita Pinheiro de Queiroz  y  SANTOS, Claudiene. WHAT DO BIOLOGy TExTBOOkS TEACH ABOUT BRAzILIAN WOMEN IN SCIENCE?. Revista da FAEEBA: Educação e Contemporaneidade [online]. 2023, vol.32, n.72, pp.148-169.  Epub 06-Mayo-2024. ISSN 2358-0194.  https://doi.org/10.21879/faeeba2358-0194.2023.v32.n72.p148-169.

This article presents the outcomes of research concerning the teachings of Biology textbooks, approved by the National Textbook Program, about Brazilian women in Science. The research, supported by Cultural and Feminist Studies and Foucauldian concepts, took the notion of textbook as a device, document, and cultural artifact. Document analysis was carried out on the PNLD - 2012, 2015 and 2018 public notice and selected textbooks. In the books analyzed, the presence of Brazilian women in science sometimes presents an approach that contributes to the (re)production and dissemination of a history of science marked by an androcentric bias and sometimes presents some ruptures, discontinuities and fissures with this history. From the analyzes it is possible to affirm that these ruptures, discontinuities and fissures are potential traces for the subversion of the hegemonic (sexist) discourse and enable other education approaches in terms of disseminating knowledge about gender, women, science and scientists.
