SOUZA, Mateus Santos  y  BOMFIM, Natanael Reis. SOCIAL REPRESENTATIONS ABOUT “INTERNATIONALIZATION” IN HIGHER EDUCATION: PROXIMITY TO THE OBJECT AND SOCIAL CONSTRUCTION. Revista da FAEEBA: Educação e Contemporaneidade [online]. 2024, vol.33, n.73, pp.264-285.  Epub 01-Mayo-2024. ISSN 2358-0194.  https://doi.org/10.21879/faeeba2358-0194.2023.v33.n73.p264-285.

This article aims to analyze how the subject’s thinking about the represented social object - “internationalization” - can contribute to strengthening this policy in Higher Education. In the study we used the qualitative approach based on the Theory and Method of Social representations (Moscovici, 1978; Jodelet, 2001; Abric, 2000; Sá, 1998; Vergès, 1994). The non-probabilistic sampling included the participation of managers and teachers who work at a Higher Education Institution in the State of Bahia, totaling 20 subjects who were potential informants. To collect data, we used the Free Word Association Technique (FWAT) and semi-structured interviews. The results indicate that the social representations of these subjects, regarding “internationalization” in Higher Education, are built in a process anchored in their knowledge, where academic mobility is triggered by cooperation and agreements that, in turn, can contribute to the production and dissemination of globalized knowledge.

Palabras clave : Internationalization of Higher Education; Educational Policies; Social Representations.
