Based on reflections from the narrative perspective in research in education, the article seeks to carry out a theoretical-practical exercise on the course of ten years as an advisor in postgraduate in Education, focusing on the reflection of the practice of guidance in research with subjects in their social and educational practices. The text includes two strategies of exposition: a theoretical on the narrative paradigm and a narrative on the orientation experiences. At the end, there is a synthesis of this path, with which it is intended to assist other teachers in reflecting on this important practice at the university.
