In this article, the author covers some aspects dealt with in his master's thesis, He begins with general comments on students' learning evaluation and continues with the discussion of certain historical, political and social aspects regarding this pedagogical instrument. He concludes with an emphasis on interviews carried out with teachers and students, with the purpose of obtaining information about the ways these actors instrumentalize evaluation and how they perceive the possibility of creating alternatives.
