The objective of this study was to understand how socialization, especially the organizational socialization, affects the identity dynamics of female professors who took/take management positions in a public university. For this purpose, we used a qualitative approach, with the method of life story, in which seven manager-professors were interviewed. The study showed that the experiences and memories rescued from childhood, as well as socialization processes, contribute to the understanding of their identity dynamics. We also found that some acquired traits and learned behaviors in the family still remain in some of them. For others, the achievements through life and, especially, the recent ones in the professional sphere, make a sense of overcoming the past experiences and identities linked to them.
