This article presents a research on the practice of textual production in the early years of Elementary School. The discursive genres have been presented to teachers as a language teaching objective, however, they have not been followed by sufficient reflections that can ensure the formation of competent writers. In this context, it is proposed a work with the teachers of a public school in the city of São Carlos, state of São Paulo, in which it is emphasized the study, the reflection on the practice and the development of a didactic sequence for teaching a discursive genre of text, as proposed by researchers at the Geneva Group. The methodology used for data collection and analysis was collaborative dialogue and the results indicated a significant change in the pedagogical practices and also an improvement in students’ textual production.
