The research was conducted in the institutional settings of the Undergraduate Pedagogy Program during a course entitled ‘Foundations and Methodology for Mathematics Teaching’, in which the students, future Mathematics teachers, wrote different autobiographies of which we chose those written at the beginning of the course. Our focus of analysis was on the experiences and representations they had had regarding school mathematics. Although most of them had attended basic school after the curricular reform of 1980, they still remembered having experienced the technicist practice during their mathematics lessons; lots of them have negative recollections related to mathematics, particularly due to the relationship they had with their teachers.
