The aim of this article is to discuss the possibilities, contributions and the attention needed to use computer assisted qualitative data analysis software - CAQDAS, in Educational qualitative research. The CAQDAS packages have been used in social sciences research in Europe and United States of America since 1980. In Brazil, the use is still not significant, but is being increased due to internet and computational resources popularization in the academic scenario. The article presents an overview about CAQDAS packages, discusses the possibilities of it applications on educational qualitative research, and the main points researchers must consider when choosing such tools. As an example, it is presented three Brazilian researches to illustrate CAQDAS usage.
