Multimodal literacy in the learning of the chronicle genre: a possibility of pedagogical mediation. e-Curriculum [online]. 2023, vol.21, e61105. Epub 13-Nov-2023. In this article we discuss the multimodal production of chronicles by ninth grade students during the remote teaching period caused by the Covid-19 pandemic from the perspective of multilingualism and critical literacy. In the study, we reflect on the pedagogical teaching mediation facilitated by digital technologies, we analyze how the Book Creator application favors editing and sharing multimodal texts. Then, we discuss the texts produced in the application under the premises of the interpretativist qualitative approach. We deduce that changes in social practices demand new pedagogical practices, implying transformations in the curriculum so that it contemplates linguistic policies of confrontation to inequalities and injustices aiming at the development of critical citizenship and promoting a socially relevant linguistic education.
