The article analyzes how the work of teachers with diversity in basic education has been, based on narratives about their pedagogical mediation practices developed with a view to generating reflections around the process of identity formation. The research was based on the discussion of diversity, identity, difference, pedagogical practices, in the contributions of the qualitative methodology, with an option for the semi-structured interview. The participating subjects were five History of Basic Education teachers and three graduates in History from a public university. The results allow us to conclude that there are perceptions of the collaborators about the importance of developing educational practices that contemplate themes of diversity, but still a shy, almost solitary work with respect to a fundamentally robust pedagogy about the recognition of diversity and the different identities present in the school.
