ABSTRACT: Bullying is a form of violence (verbal, physical, material, psychological, moral, sexual, or virtual), intentionally and repeatedly. This qualitative research was conducted in four schools in Porto Alegre/RS through focus groups with 64 students in the age group of 9-17 years and interviews with 10 professional from schools. The objective of this research was to investigate the manifestations of bullying and the effectiveness of restorative circles. These are dialogical encounters between aggressor and victim, mediated by a coordinator. It aims to express the reasons underlying the conflict and elaborate agreements. The results indicate satisfaction with the restorative circles, but this practice may be palliative or punitive when the agreement is imposed.
