The research investigated the consolidation of physical education in schools in the state of Pernambuco, in view of the implementation of the new high school, aiming to present how physical education is in these schools, in view of the implementation of the new high school. It was characterized by a study of qualitative approach, having as instrument of collection an interview with teachers of Physical Education of the state network of Pernambuco. Data were analyzed based on categorical content analysis by theme. We found that this curricular reform is far from being consolidated in Pernambuco schools and that physical education teachers do not have in-depth knowledge about the new high school nor about the common national curricular base.
