The discussions about training practices of reading/writing characterized as an important topic in Brazilian education. Conceiving them as social and discursive practices, the purpose of this article is to analyze the meaning of reading and writing for literacy teachers and the effects on their practice with students through a discursive analysis of texts produced during a process of continuing education with 18 teachers of a public school Piraquara-PR. The results show different meanings attributed to reading/writing, which have changed during the training process. From this results the importance of encouraging and promoting a deep and meaningful experience with the different dimensions of reading and writing in the field of educational practices.
