This paper addresses ethnic-racial issues and their relationship to the curriculum, from historical perspective. It presents the idea of the curriculum as a disputed territory, from which it seeks to highlight the tensions experienced in the curricular field in the fight for historically denied acknowledgments. The results point to a late breakthrough in the curricular debates, however, with several struggles still to be overcome.
