HONORATO, Tony y NERY, Ana Clara Bortoleto. Constitution, agents and uses of a library for teacher training (1897-1923). Rev. Bras. Hist. Educ [online]. 2017, vol.17, n.2, pp.193-225. ISSN 2238-0094. https://doi.org/10.4025/rbhe.v17n2.826.
School libraries are special objects of research in History of Education. We sought to analyze this space from the point of view of cultural organization, the agents involved, and the specific school space. The library at the Piracicaba Complementary and Normal School is the object of study. From it, we learned the constitution and uses, from a period starting in 1897, with the implementation ofthe Complementary School of Piracicaba to the recent records on the collection made by the director of the school Honorato Faustino, in 1923. The selected sources are reports, Yearbooks of Education and state law. Authors such as Marta Carvalho and Antonio Viñao-Fragocollaborate with the analysis, by checking the library while collection and space. The difficulties faced by the agents, the consolidation of a space and the structuring of a substantial collection are analyzed in this article.
