This text studies the beginning of the Venezuelan independence movement, from the creation of its own government (Junta Suprema de Caracas) to the proclamation of the First Republic, from the Gazeta de Caracas (1808-1822) as the main channel of the new ideology political. All the editions of the first Caracas newspaper, which coincides with the installation of the first printing presses (Pedro Grases), have been collated to highlight the most relevant educational institutions (elementary schools, Universidad de Caracas, Escuela Náutica de La Guaira) and, at the same time, the pedagogical thought of a generation of intellectuals dedicated to the cause of freedom in the early nineteenth century.
