Denied over the first two centuries of the Industrial Revolution, playfulness resurfaces as a research theme and as a social practice in the post-World War II period. More than a change, it affirms the affirmation of a new civilizing paradigm. This is the central thesis of this reflection. Starting from a reference to this new paradigm, we try to show the presence of playfulness in different instances of contemporary cultural life. It ends with two complementary reflections on the challenge of playfulness in current times and the obstacles to its realization throughout everyday life
