This article aims to analyze cinematographic productions of Portuguese- Speaking African Countries and its trajectory as an active element in the political scenario of nations that underwent profound transformations from the second half of the last century until today. Based on a survey of the cinematographic productions of the five countries - Angola, Mozambique, Cape Verde, Guinea Bissau and Sao Tome and Principe - held until August 2011, we have raised a few issues and proposed reflections in order to contribute to the study of this still little studied subject.
