This article analyzes the set of third-party texts in textbooks approved by the MEC in 2015, within the Programa Nacional do Livro Didático para o Ensino Médio (PNLEM). Based on the concept of textual gender supported by the national curricular guidelines, the most distributed textbooks collections in the country are evaluated, observing the genres, the discursive domains, the presentation conditions and the texts’ purposes. There are also aspects that explain the success of the most distributed collection in PNLEM/2015.
