By drawing on Piaget's theory of equilibration, this paper examines aspects of the construction of knowledge, mainly scientific knowledge, using examples from Science curricula contents. It discusses the teacher's role inthe construction of knowledge by students, offering suggestions for research on science teaching in a constructivist approach.
