SILVA, Mauro Medina da e FERNANDES, Elton. Um estudo da eficiência dos programas de pós-graduação em engenharia no Brasil. Avaliação (Campinas) [online]. 2001, vol.06, n.03, pp.53-66. ISSN 1414-4077.
This research is about the performance evaluation of the Brazilian engineering graduate programs associated with teaching and research. It was done using a tool that measures and helps to evaluate their efficiency, known as Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). Many kinds of models were experimented in the way to represent the 1998 evaluation in a way compatible with the evaluation parameters used by CAPES Foundation, one of Brazil's major higher education funding agencies. This foundation has a systematic evaluation of teaching and research activities of the engineering graduate programs in Brazil, which has served as data source for the research developed in this thesis. The system tries to determine a degree that represents the quality of the graduate programs. DEA application searches to enlarge the knowledge of the evaluators and help program leaders to formulate strategies in order to better classify them.
