The text analyzes the role of evaluation in higher education settings that aim at developing critical citizenship. It discusses the meaning of the pedagogical work and the characteristics of the students who come to the university, as well as the characteristics of the teachers who interact with them. Evaluation is considered in favor of both. Its purpose is to identify and to analyze what was learned and what wasn't learned yet so that learning can be promoted. Finally, the text presents the following challenge: as all university teachers prepare professionals and contribute to develop critical citizenship, they should adopt evaluation practices based on the pedagogical work in which we can find reflection, construction, creativity, partnership, self-evaluation, and autonomy, principles' related to the work of students and teachers.
