CALCAS, Antonio de Queiroz Pereira e DOMINGOS, Neide Aparecida Micelli. Teacher evaluation from the students' perspective. Avaliação (Campinas) [online]. 2006, vol.11, n.04, pp.99-108. ISSN 1414-4077.
This text addresses institutional evaluation, specifically the teacher's evaluation from the students' perspective. It discusses criteria and types of evaluation, while approaching the objective and subjective aspects of these criteria. It makes a brief review of the subject starting in the 80s, and points out a few internationally recognized instruments for the evaluation of teaching performance. The research suggests that if the mission of the teaching institution is the student's education, the teacher is the main agent for this accomplishment. Therefore, it is only natural that the student be a source of data for teachers' evaluation. It concludes that, although there is some resistance by the teachers, generally, researches based on evaluations that use the students as source of data can be considered reliable and effective when inserted in a context, since the students are able to provide a report on the pedagogic effectiveness.
