In the years 2020-2021, the world faced the Covid-19 pandemic. When the virus reached Brazil, health crisis was added to a situation of political, economic and social crisis. This article discusses the impact of these crises in the school context, especially in the public school, proposing a reflection from the field of curriculum. In opposition to the idea that the recovery of a post-pandemic normality is desirable, we aim to present the need to establish a curriculum based on a democratic political education principled in: the recognition and appreciation of the knowledge of subjects of the curriculum; professional and political training for educators highlighting human rights education; and a hopeful thought that seeks the non-existent in an alternative curricular horizon.
