PONCE, Branca Jurema e COSTA, Thais Almeida. Concrete Utopias to Renew Democratic Hopes: Interview with Amabília Almeida, School Teacher. e-Curriculum [online]. 2022, vol.20, n.4, pp.1904-1923. Epub 30-Jan-2023. ISSN 1809-3876. https://doi.org/10.23925/1809-3876.2022v20i4p1904-1923.
This interview was part of the academic activities set that made up the project (2020-2022) of the Education and Research in Curricular Justice group (GEPEJUC) coordinated by Professor Branca Jurema Ponce, of the Education Program: Curriculum, from the Faculty of Education at PUC-SP. One of the objectives of this project is to record successful historical experiences of school education, as well as current curricular practices that also reveal democratic advances. The story of Amabília Almeida is a testimony of the rebelious feminist action against patriarchy, of political resistance against authoritarianism and of teaching activism to guarantee the right to education. With this publication, the utopian essence of academic productions anchored in the concept of curricular justice, is reaffirmed. Stories like these allow us to affirm the impossibility of erasing the emancipatory experiences, which survives in memories, in dreams, in resistance.
