CORREA, Antonio Matheus do Rosário e SANTOS, Raquel Amorim dos. The social representations of black children about color in a school context. Linhas Críticas [online]. 2020, vol.26, e33513. Epub 23-Out-2020. ISSN 1981-0431. https://doi.org/10.26512/lc.v26.2020.33513.
This study investigates the social representations of black children about their skin color in a school context. The methodology uses a qualitative approach through a focus group with 17 children from a public school in Bragança (PA). The results reveal social representations by gradations of color, demonstrating racial stereotypes, blacks' invisibility and approximation with racism. However, they rehearse anti-racist behavior and a positive identity about being black. Therefore, the children's speeches and attitudes delimit practices of valorization of blacks and whites through the elaboration of identities and racial belonging, as well as the invisibility of color in other speeches.
