This article centers on the dialogues Cecília Meireles kept with the History of Brazilian Education through her chronicles published in a newspaper column titled “Página da Educação” in Diário de Notícias, an important newspaper from Rio de Janeiro, on the occasion of the provisional govern- ment of Getúlio Vargas. Besides her activities as an educator and a journalist, it is important to highlight her participation as one of the signatories of the Manifesto dos Pioneiros da Educação Nova (Manifest of the Pioneers of New Education), a document written by Fernando de Azevedo about the renewal of the Brazilian Education, published on March 19, 1932, after the IV National Conference on Education held in 1931.
