SILLER, Rosali Rauta e ARAUJO, Vânia Carvalho de. The Pomeranian child in early childhood education: can I speak my language here?. Educação. Santa Maria [online]. 2019, vol.44, e34697. Epub 11-Nov-2020. ISSN 1984-6444. https://doi.org/10.5902/1984644434697.
The paper endeavors to analyze the contact, right and recognition of Pomeranian children that arrives at monolingual preschool institutions speaking only their mother tongue (Pomeranian) or in the condition of bilinguals, also speaking the Portuguese language. Based on the bibliographic and documentary research, it was possible to identify, in the sphere of normative documents, that it is recent in Brazil the conquest of rights that guarantee a differentiated, intercultural and bilingual childhood education and the public policies that prioritize, in the school, the use of the mother tongue of Pomeranian children. It was concluded that this model of education that is attempted to be built, must, mainly incorporate the language, which maintains the memory and identity of the Pomeranian people, as a heritage to be studied and valued. It needs to happen, above all, but not only in the institutions of early childhood education in the Pomeranian communities, reaffirming the right to difference, which is still a great challenge that requires the commitment of all of us.
