DANTAS, Gisele Cristine da Silva; ANTLOGA, Carla Sabrina Xavier  e  SILVA, Noelma. The participation of women in the critical pedagogy of Paulo Freire: between allusion and recognition. Conjectura: filos. e Educ. [online]. 2022, vol.27, e022046.  Epub 06-Abr-2024. ISSN 2178-4612.  https://doi.org/10.18226/21784612.v27.e022046.

Paulo Freire's production is still current and necessary. His work is permeated by the defense of a liberating action from social, dialogic oppression (GASPARELLO, 2013). Freire recognized authoritarianism, racism, and machismo in Brazilian society and began to consider the universality of oppression (ANDREOLA, 2016). Paulo Freire was sensitive to women's recognition of their coexistence in his work through prefaces, dedications, and thankfulness, either orally or in writing. However, there is historical-social invisibility of women's work, both reproductive and productive, and with that, the symbolic and material non-recognition. The objective was to carry out documentary research to survey the presence and collaboration of the companions and to assess the type of recognition made in the life and work of the author. The introductory parts of 17 productions by the author were analyzed, and the results were that in more than half, in 11 of them, mentions of the first wife, second wife, and daughters were identified. Despite the references, these did not reverberate in changes in their lives, either symbolically or materially. No biographies were found in public archives or institutes about the wifes or daughters, which characterizes the lack of public recognition of the direct and indirect work of women partners, co-creators, co-authors, and collaborators. The effort of recognition is made in the rescue of a few other women researchers, a condition common to other fields, pointing to a structure and a social organization that makes the presence and contribution of women in the world invisible.
