COLLET, Celia Letícia Gouvêa. Performance e transformação na escola indígena Bakairi. Revista da FAAEBA: Educação e Contemporaneidade [online]. 2010, vol.19, n.33, pp.173-184. ISSN 0104-7043.

We tend to see indigenous school through the prism of our prejudices about “school” as an institution where one acquire certain contents and personal and professional formation. Through an ethnography of the Bakairi (indigenous group located in Mato Grosso - Brazil) and, more specifically, of their school, I could observe that this institution was re-appropriated by them on the base of the own cultural references. They associated the school to their traditional rituals, not only for being a space of socialization and performance, but also for being a space of ‘transformation’ and warranty of their people and families permanency

Palavras-chave : Indigenous School Education; Bakairi; Transformation.
