It is important to discuss the interfaces of an assessment that values the quality of student learning and, not only concerned about the sum of the obtained obtained. Specifically, we sought to verify the usefulness of the learning processes selected in terms of learning, to establish a relationship between mediation and evaluation, to highlight the evaluation practice considering the pedagogical strategies, and to emphasize the importance of self evaluation. Through the bibliographic review presented in this manuscript, the reader will be led to reflect on the evaluation proposals, as well as the advances in the teaching and learning process of the students, emphasizing the special attention that educators must have to register specific and precise considerations, evidencing progress, suggesting revisions and alternatives for re-elaboration. It should be emphasized that they must be included in an evaluation process that is concerned with the quality of the student’s learning without causing any kind of embarrassment to the student. Considering the contemporary concerns about evaluation and the process of teaching learning, we seek to analyze the perspectives of teaching learning, as well as the instruments of mediation, bringing an analytical and reflective perspective on the theoretical presuppositions constructed over the last years. Thus, we walk in these pages always under the view that the educator needs to be reflective and carry out the necessary interventions so that no student is harmed. Therefore, we aim to bring in these pages another tool for building new ideas, perspectives and broadening horizons so that we can reflect on the pedagogical praxis and how we are evaluating the learner, because often we look for quantitative results disregarding the qualitative ones. The evaluative action needs, therefore, to consider the students’ progress and offer possibilities to overcome the difficulties, allowing the reception, integration and inclusion of the subjects who hold the knowledge.
