CUNHA, Mariana; GONZALEZ, Marcelo Salabert  e  CASTRO, Helena Carla. Reflections on the training of interpreter and the academic development of the brazilian deaf in the largest country in Latin America. Rev. Educ. Espec. [online]. 2023, vol.36, e83216.  Epub 26-Abr-2024. ISSN 1984-686X.  https://doi.org/10.5902/1984686x83216.

The present article was elaborated on the polemical subject that discusses the training for the interpreter of Brazilian Sign Language in the academic scope. Despite the late officialization of the profession, even after the decree that legitimizes the performance of this professional in educational institutions, there has been a movement since 2006, initiated by the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), in favor of training teachers and interpreters of Libras. Although this is a recent initiative, other universities have begun to follow the same path, offering the deaf community and interpreters the possibility of a broader and more specific qualification, from a scientific point of view. This measure made the university accessible to a part of the deaf, as well as trained translators-interpreters more qualified to accompany the deaf student in their academic path, however it does not yet configure a reality in terms of the training of these professionals. In this sense, this work aims to carry out a literature survey regarding the trajectory of interpreters in the deaf community and how their training took place until the present day, considering the demands that arose after the officialization of their presence in public educational institutions, more specifically in higher education. For this study, the Google Scholar, Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO) and Centro de Estudos Educação e Sociedade (CEDES) platforms were used.
