This study deepened the knowledge about the Polyvalent State School Guiomar de Freitas Costa, located in Uberlândia (MG).The research was restricted to the period between 1971 and 1980, and presented the following major questions: in which context this school was created and how it developed its activities in its early years? In order to answer these questions, methodologically, the study researched documents and bibliography and, lastly, interviewed students and professional alumni from the school. This High School, built in the decline of the law that constituted it - the Law n. 5,692/71 - also had ephemeral proposal and installed activities.
